It is unfortunate that at this point pre registration has not reached a saturation point that will give the club owner a true picture of the turnout. Only about 50 to 60 % of the attendees are bothering to pre register, and many wait to the last couple of days. In this case this really backfired on the shooters by causing the cancelation of the shoot. Is pre-registration and accurate indicator of participation for non-major tournaments? ...just curious if someone's done the analysis since more weekend shoots now offer the option to pre-reg.

I may be out of the norm but I sometimes pre-register when I'm 90-100% sure I'm going to attend and other times I either make a game decision the night before or the day of the tournament based on any number of factors (family, weather, friends joining, tee time I can't pass...

We were about 10 guys planning to attend so we can warm up for nationals. It's to bad but maybe just advertise a little more.

just in case there are shooters that are looking at the pre-registered numbers before deciding to signup, i have added a new feature to the signup page.
at the bottom where it lists how many shooters in each event, there is an item in RED called LOOKERS, when you go to the signup page, you have to
enter your nsca# or last name to see the events, so even if you dont enroll we know that someone of (whatever nsca class or concurrent) has looked
at the page and not enrolled.

These reasons posted do have impact as well as alot of guys are bowhunting and getting leases ready for rifle season. I thought that monday morning was a bit early to give up on the shoot being that there were several of days left for entries, but I guess she has her criteria.

Lonnie, I honestly think it is all the reasons you have listed. Even though gas has gone down jobs are still hurting and it's starting to worry a lot of people. I think those that are going to Nat'ls are saving their money for that. There are so many shoots here in Texas that it can flat wear you out trying to make most of them. I know we are sure worn out, looking forward to time off.

I just talked with Gretchen and she is canceling Westsides shoot due to low preregistration. This does not surprise me, but we (Club Owners) would like to know what is influencing the low turnouts over the last few weeks at a number of clubs. We came close to canceling our last shoot on October 12th for the same reason.

Is it the economy, the election, Nationals in October, gas prices, or other issues?

Are there to many shoots?

Are shooters looking at Iclays and...

Do to the lack of interest in the Fall Challenge; Westside Sporting Grounds has elected to cancel the shoot. If you would like to come out and shoot registered targets on that day the cost is $35.00 plus tax for 100 birds. Argentina Clays will also be available on that day for $10. This will be a "pull your own" course and a score cards will be provided. All targets on the 100 bird Mainwill be turned into NSCA, but there will be no trophies.
